Stat 98/198 - VIGRE Seminar

Instructor: Nathan Ross

Office: 347 Evans

Office Hours: Immediately after lecture and by appt.

  Class Schedule: M 1-2 in 1011 Evans.
Course Description: The purpose of this course is to expose students to the use of statistics beyond undergraduate coursework. We will consider statistical research and application in academia, government, and the private sector, as well as more fundamental topics (such as statistics in the popular media). The format of the course has two components, the first is a seminar series of speakers who use statistics in their careers and the second is student projects and presentations exploring the themes mentioned above.
Course Requirements: The grading for the course is P/NP and the grade will be almost entirely determined by participation which includes attending the seminar talks, asking questions, and giving two short presentations, the format of which will be discussed in lecture.
